You might remember Francois & Wendy from their engagement session. I love this couple and was so excited for their special day!
We arrived at the beautiful Avianto on a blazing hot summer day. After praying for sun the whole week, I found myself praying instead for some wind and clouds to shelter us from the heat. I walked into the venue and found a very excited bride and her bridesmaids checking in on the decor. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Wendy upset. She’s always upbeat and friendly (probably one of the reasons why she serves on the welcoming team at church), and on this day her nerves were showing – just a little bit. After saying hi and letting them know what time we’d be back, we were off to shoot the decor.
I loved walking into the venue and seeing their engagement photos used everywhere, from the seating chart to the menu and the guest book.
Candy table favours are so popular today and such a great idea – and they’re so pretty to photograph 😀
Francois handmade these boxes specially for their rings
Wendy has these incredibly gorgeous naturally long lashes! Just a dash of mascara and she was good to go!
When Wendy went to try on dresses, the lady suggested a dress which didn’t look great on the hanger but she decided to give it a try anyway. When she put it on, it was THE dress! I have to be honest, seeing Wendy’s dress on the hanger I thought it was an okay looking dress. But when she put it on I saw what she saw when she tried it on! The dress looked incredible!
Wendy asked all Francois’ friends to chip in so she could get him a great bottle of whisky for his birthday and as part of his wedding gift. So he kept it and opened it on their wedding day
Francois had such cool details – from his cuff links engraved with his initials, to his awesome Fossil watch – he looked incredibly dapper
When Francois put his tie on he got a special surprise…
Another wedding gift from Wendy was a super hero shirt for Francois and each of his groomsmen. (Yeah! I got to check this off my photography bucket list 🙂 )
I love snapping the brides just before they enter the church – I love the mix of emotion as they realise that this is the moment they’ve been dreaming of and preparing for for months. As Wendy saw her dad, he said, “You’re making this harder than it is. Did you have to look so beautiful?” My heart melted!
Another thing I love is the groom’s reaction when he first sees his bride. Francois was fighting the tears hard when Wendy came walking down the isle.
Tissues for the tears of joy!
Yeah! Husband and wife!
I love having my hubby second shoot for me! Here’s my view (left) and his view (right)
Guys! Your love is beautiful!
Wendy – your beauty is ridiculous!
P.S. Always make each other laugh!
So this is something new I tried – I don’t usually enjoy working with my flash, but the wine cellar made me feel inspired so I gave it a try. I quite like the results… What do you think..?
Mr & Mrs Blignault – thank you so much for making us a part of your special day. We know that you will be incredibly happy together and that this is only the start of the best time of your life!
