Doing a workshop was high on my “to do” list for the year. The last workshop I did was back in 2013 with Kikitography (you can see the posts here and here) so I definitely felt like it was time to soak up someone else’s knowledge again. I was super excited to see that Ett Venter was hosting a workshop because he is rather incredible with lighting and I really felt like this was an area I could improve in.
His workshop ran over 2 days – the first of which was the “fun” part – shooting, before we got down to “business” on day 2.
Rebecca from Runaway Romance had set up a gorgeous African autumn inspired table which reminded me of my childhood – not because our dinner tables were set out like this, but because we had a huge Syringa tree growing outside our house and I always found it fascinating how these berries would in just a few months turn into beautiful purple flowers (or is it the other way around?). The colours Rebecca used complimented each other perfectly.
Rebecca specialises in small intimate weddings and elopements so definitely check her out if you’re planning on doing either!
While we were taking photos of the table decor, Courtney was working her magic on our model for the day. If you’re a bride still looking for a makeup artist, I highly recommend Courtney!
Once the bride was done and everyone had finished up photographing the table, we headed out to Pretoria city central for our couple shoot.
This couple was just amazing – they had insane chemistry and we hardly had to give them any direction because they were just such naturals! It helps that they’ve been married for a while and I guess they weren’t nervous at all with 10+ cameras pointed at them.
Isn’t she just gorgeous?

This gentleman came and posed for all the cameras which gave everyone a good laugh! One of the many reasons why I love this country!
Don’t the black and white photos almost look like it was taken someone in New York?
A huge thanks to Ett for all the prep and effort he put into the workshop and for sharing everything he knows! And thank you to Rebecca and Courtney without who the day would not have been as amazing.
