Nice to meet you.
I’m Chanique – a 20-something year old, born and bred in South Africa.
I’m a mom
A child of God
Let me just start by saying that I hate About Me pages. I never know what to say! Should I start with “I first picked up a camera back in…” No, that’s boring. Should I tell you my life story and why photos mean so much to me? Perhaps, but how much do you really want to read?
So I’ll start by telling you what’s important to me… Relationships. I believe that we were created for relationship. Think about your life – every special memory, every awesome experience – I’m pretty sure you can see the faces that were there with you?
So let me introduce you to some of the special people in my life…
Meet my family:
Wihan – my husband
We’ve been married since 2011 but dating since highschool so all-in-all we’ve been together for over a decade – and I’m still crazy about him!
He also assistants me during shoots. I love that he can lead but has the strength to let me lead when it’s needed. I adore him ♡
Tiara – my toddler
I’ve wanted to be a mom since I can remember so when Tiara was born in 2014 it’s like a part of me suddenly came alive that wasn’t before. She’s just like her Daddy which challenges me sometimes – she has a VERY strong personality, is super stubborn (which she gets from both of us) and is in her element when she has someone willing to follow her orders. She makes my heart full
I would not be who I am today, and my life would not be where it is today if it wasn’t for Jesus. My life would be incomplete without Him and my dreams would be very small compared to what they are now. He is my #1
Useless facts about me:
I love Gilmore Girls
I adore my family
I’ve known my best friend since I was 5
I’m an Apple fan
Why did I choose photography?
Growing up, my sister had a crazy gift for art and I envied her for it. I so wanted to paint or draw or create something beautiful, but I just wasn’t gifted in that way. When I found photography, I finally found my “creative release”. Despite having tried poetry, song writing, singing; I finally picked up a camera in 2006 and this is the one that stuck. It perfectly ties everything I love into one – people, technology, emotion, romance, memories…
